THANNAMANDI, Feb 10: The Road Safety Club of Government Degree College (GDC) Thannamandi organized a Mega Road Safety Awareness Drive today in collaboration with the District Traffic Police Thannamandi here today. On the occasion a massive Awareness program on Road Safety organized under the patronage of College Principal Dr. Shamim Ahmed Azad wherein Talib Hussain, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Traffic Police Thannamandi was special guest. Dr. Ather Aziz Raina, Convener of the College Road Safety Club co-ordinated the program. Dr. Shamim interacted with the students and stressed the importance of adhering to traffic rules, urging them to become ambassadors of road safety in society. Dr. Ashiq Malik, the lead speaker, delivered an informative lecture highlighting safe driving practices and the significance of awareness among youth. Talib Hussain also addressed the gathering and briefed students about traffic laws, helmet use, seat belt regulations, and the consequences of traffic violations.During the program, students actively participated in the awareness drive and took a pledge to follow traffic rules and promote road safety awareness in their communities. Informational guidance was also provided regarding responsible driving behaviour, pedestrian safety, and the role of youth in reducing road accidents.Earlier, Dr. Ather Aziz Raina welcomed the guests and participants whereas Prof. Rizwana Kouser conducted the proceedings of the program and Dr. Shazia Poswal presented the formal vote of thanks. The event concluded with an appeal to students and the general public to strictly observe traffic norms for the safety of all road users. Prominent among others present were on the occasion were Anuj Bali, Dr. Mohd. Ashrif, Dr. Meenakshi Sharma, Dr. Atiq-ul-Rehman, Dr. Asgar Khan, Dr. Saqib Bashir and Mohd Farooq from Traffic Police besides a large number of students.
