Arvind Gupta inaugurates High-Capacity Pumping Unit

JAMMU, Feb 11: In a major step aimed at improving water supply infrastructure, MLA Jammu West Arvind Gupta inaugurated a newly installed High Capacity (HC) pumping unit at CPS R-22 under the JMC CAPEX programme.
The project, completed at a cost of Rs 23.04 lakh, is expected to significantly enhance the availability and efficiency of water supply for residents of the West Constituency.
The pumping unit, with a specification of 50,000 GPH × 122-metre head, has been installed to address growing water demand and ensure smoother distribution across the area.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Arvind Gupta said that strengthening basic infrastructure remains a priority to improve the quality of life for citizens.
“The commissioning of this modern pumping unit reflects our commitment to providing better civic amenities. Ensuring regular and adequate drinking water supply to every household is our collective responsibility, and such projects play a vital role in achieving that goal,” he said.
He further appreciated the efforts of the Jal Shakti (PHE) Mechanical Department and technical teams for completing the project within the stipulated time frame. Gupta added that continuous upgrades in public utilities are essential to meet the needs of expanding urban populations.
The ceremony was attended by Sudesh Sharma, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti (PHE) Mechanical North; Anil Dev Singh Katoch, AEE Mechanical Medical Sub Division North Jammu; AE Ravinder Pal Singh; and JEs Vishal Bharat, Suraj Krishan Kheer, Vishal Arora and Aman Bakshi, along with other staff members and members of the general public.
Representatives from the executing agency, M/S National Electromechanical Company, Ghulab Singh Marg, Jammu, including BJP leaders Prabhat Singh Jamwal, Kushant Prajapati, Atul Bakshi, Mohit Vaid, Rohit Gupta, Aarti Khajuria, Sudesh Sharma and Aashu Gupta, were also present on the occasion.
Local residents welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that the upgraded infrastructure would ensure improved and uninterrupted water supply across the constituency.
