International Day of Women, Girls in Science celebrated at GLDMDC Hiranagar

HIRANAGAR, Feb 11: Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College, Hiranagar, celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science under the patronage of the worthy Principal, Dr. Pragya Khanna. The event was organized by the Department of Geography in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty members. The programme was efficiently coordinated by by Prof. Tammna Rajput and Prof. Devia Narrania. The program aimed to highlight the significant contributions of women in science and to encourage young students especially girls to actively pursue scientific knowledge, innovation and research.
The programme started with the welcome address by Prof. Tammna Rajput (Deptt. Of Geography) who ensured the smooth conduct of all the activities. As a part of the celebration, two competitions were organized- a Poster Making Competition and an Oral Presentation Competition. The oral presentation competition was judged by Dr. Anupama Arora and Prof. Neeru Sharma and the winners of the oral presentation were Narayan Singh (1st), Chahat Sharma (2nd) and Rahul Sharma (3rd ) . The poster making competition was judged by Prof. Namrata andProf. Shivalika and the winners of the poster making competition were Rubi (1st ), Sunaina Sharma (2nd) and Anjali Sharma (3rd).
Principal Dr. Pragya Khanna congratulated the winners and encouraged students to continue striving for excellence in science and research. She emphasized the importance of empowering women and girls in scientific domains to build a progressive and innovative society. The celebration successfully highlighted the vital role of women and girls in science and reinforced the college's commitment to academic excellence and gender equality. A formal vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Devia Narrania(Deptt. Of Mathematics), marking the successful conclusion of the event. A total of 60 students from different departments attended this programme. Faculty members from different departments graced this event.
