UT Administration committed for comprehensive development of Ladakh: LG

Leh, Feb 12: Various delegations today called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, at the LG Secretariat and apprised him of issues related to development, renewable energy, tourism promotion, connectivity, and social welfare in different parts of the Union Territory.
A joint delegation from the Ladakh Renewable Energy Development Agency (LREDA) and the Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA) met the Lieutenant Governor and briefed him on matters concerning the functioning of hydroelectric power projects in Leh and Kargil districts.
A delegation associated with the Pangong Frozen Lake Marathon informed the Lieutenant Governor about the forthcoming 4th edition of the marathon, scheduled to commence on February 24, with participation from runners across the country. They also shared details regarding the recognition and growing prominence of the event.
Delegations from Lingshed and Chumathang apprised the Lieutenant Governor of local developmental issues and tourism-related initiatives in their respective areas. The Chumathang delegation highlighted the significance of the Chumathang Hot Springs as a tourism destination.
A group of unemployed veterinary graduates also met the Lieutenant Governor and raised issues related to their professional concerns.
Additionally, Mr. Hussain, a visually impaired citizen, called on the Lieutenant Governor and shared his personal concerns and those of his daughter, who is also visually impaired.
The Lieutenant Governor gave a patient hearing to all delegations and reiterated the UT Administration’s commitment to inclusive development and to promoting Ladakh as a major tourism destination.
He noted that Ladakh possesses immense untapped potential in adventure and wellness tourism, as well as renewable energy, and emphasised the importance of coordinated efforts to harness these opportunities.
