Reasi police Nab proclaimed offender after decade-long evasion

Reasi, Feb 13: Demonstrating unwavering commitment and relentless pursuit of justice, Reasi Police has achieved a significant breakthrough by apprehending a proclaimed offender who had been evading arrest for nearly ten years in multiple criminal cases.
The accused, Mohd Tariq alias Bafar S/O Mohd Aslam alias Pinku R/O Bhagta, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, was wanted in several cases registered at Police Station Katra, including:
FIR No. 191/2021 U/S 379 IPC
FIR No. 22/2017 U/S 457/380 RPC
FIR No. 77/2016 U/S 457/380/511 RPC
FIR No. 14/2017 U/S 457/380/201 RPC
FIR No. 11/2017 U/S 457/380 RPC
FIR No. 188/2021 U/S 379 IPC
Proclamation orders had been issued against the accused by the Hon’ble Court of Munsiff JMIC Katra, and directions for publication in newspapers were initiated as per court orders. Despite repeated raids and sustained efforts over the years, the accused continued to evade arrest in an attempt to escape the clutches of law.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs and after continuous technical and human surveillance, a dedicated team of Police Station Katra launched a meticulously planned operation and finally succeeded in apprehending the proclaimed offender. The arrest marks the culmination of persistent and coordinated efforts by Reasi Police to ensure that no offender remains beyond the reach of justice.
The accused has been produced before the Hon’ble Court for further legal proceedings in accordance with law.
The entire operation was executed by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey. JKPS and SP Katra Sh. Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
SSP Reasi Sh. Paramvir Singh-JKP, reiterated the district police’s zero-tolerance approach towards crime and emphasized that absconding from justice is never a permanent escape. He further stated that sustained drives are being conducted to execute pending warrants and court orders in a time-bound manner, thereby reinforcing the rule of law and strengthening public confidence in the justice system.
