Stolen motorcycle recovered, notorious accused arrested

Reasi, Feb 13: Demonstrating prompt response and professional investigation, Reasi Police successfully cracked a motorcycle theft case within a short span of time, leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicle and arrest of the accused involved.
Police Station Katra received a written complaint regarding the theft of a motorcycle bearing Registration No. JK11F-7196 from the Chintamani area of Katra. Acting without delay, FIR No. 06/2026 U/S 303(2) BNS was registered and a dedicated investigation team was constituted.
Immediately after registration of the case, an extensive search operation was launched. Several suspects were rounded up for questioning. Through a combination of technical surveillance, CCTV analysis and reliable human intelligence, the police zeroed in on the accused involved in the commission of the crime.
The accused, Mohd Tariq alias Bafar S/O Mohd Aslam alias Pinku R/O Bhagta, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, was apprehended. During sustained interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the theft. On his disclosure, the stolen motorcycle bearing Registration No. JK11F-7196 was successfully recovered.
Notably, the accused has a history of involvement in theft and dacoity cases and is known for previous criminal activities. His arrest is seen as a significant step towards curbing property-related crimes in the area. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway to explore his possible involvement in other cases.
The entire operation was carried out by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Sh. Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
SSP Reasi Sh. Paramvir Singh-JKP, reaffirmed the District Police’s unwavering commitment to protecting citizens’ property and maintaining law and order. He emphasized that criminal elements will be dealt with firmly and that Reasi Police will continue its proactive efforts to ensure a safe and secure environment for the public.
