Early Times Report MAJALTA, Feb 13: The valedictory function of the Seven-day NSS Winter Camp at Government Degree College (GDC) Majalta was organized with great enthusiasm and active participation from volunteers and faculty members. The programme commenced with the formal presentation of the camp report to Principal Dr Shalini Sharma by Prof. Naresh Kumar, NSS Committee Member. The detailed camp report was then read out by Dr Chander Mohan, NSS Programme Officer, highlighting the activities and achievements of the week-long camp. Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr Shalini Sharma appreciated the dedication, discipline, and social commitment shown by the NSS volunteers throughout the camp. She encouraged students to continue participating in such community-oriented programmes and contribute positively to society. On the occasion, ten best NSS volunteers were awarded trophies for their exemplary contribution, sincerity, and active involvement in all camp activities. The seven-day winter camp featured a variety of educational, social, and awareness-based programmes. On Day 1, an expert lecture was delivered by Dr Moonisha on the topics of stray dogs and mental health, creating awareness among students about compassion and psychological well-being. Day 2 was marked by a cleanliness drive conducted in and around the college campus, where volunteers cleaned classrooms, open areas, and public spaces. On Day 3, an awareness programme on important government schemes and education loans was conducted by Sh. Rajesh Mohan Dutt, Manager, J&K Bank Majalta, who guided students about financial support and welfare schemes. Day 4 featured a plantation drive in which volunteers planted saplings and spread the message of environmental protection. Day 5 included an educational visit to the adopted school, where volunteers interacted with students, conducted awareness sessions on health and hygiene, and organized learning activities and games. On Day 6, an anti-drugs awareness rally was organized in the local area to sensitize the general public about the harmful effects of drug abuse. Day 7 was observed as Safer Internet Day, with sessions focusing on responsible and secure use of digital platforms. Faculty members of the NSS Committee and other staff members extended full support in organizing and conducting the camp successfully. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and refreshments for all participants. |
