| Khatana Meets Ashwini Vaishnaw for Protection of Martyr Maqbool Sherwani Memorial Hall | | | Early Times Report NEW DELHI, Feb 13: Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha, Nominated), Er. Gulam Ali Khatana, met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at his Parliament office and apprised him of the highly sensitive concerns raised by residents of Sherwani Colony regarding the proposed railway alignment. Khatana informed the Minister that the Martyr Sherwani Memorial Hall and the Sherwani Colony are likely to be affected by one of the three railway alignment options under consideration. He emphasized that the Memorial Hall, named after martyr Maqbool Sherwani, holds immense historical and national significance and serves as a symbol of sacrifice and patriotism. The MP further conveyed that he had already taken up the matter with railway and district administration officials and had listened to multiple deputations from local residents demanding protection of the colony and the memorial hall. He expressed concern that the district and railway authorities appeared to have considered only one side of the issue without adequately consulting all stakeholders. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw assured Khatana that the Government of India fully recognizes and respects the sacrifices of martyr Maqbool Sherwani. He assured that the Memorial Hall would be protected as a national symbol and stated that the railway survey would be reviewed after consulting all stakeholders and examining alternative alignment options. Er. Ghulam Ali Khatana thanked the Union Minister for his patient hearing and for taking suo motu cognizance of this sensitive matter in the larger public and national interest. |
