| Minor girl traced within eight days; accused arrested by Reasi police | | |  Early Times Report
REASI, Feb 14: Demonstrating prompt action and unwavering commitment towards public safety, District Police Reasi successfully traced out a kidnapped minor girl and arrested the accused within eight days of the incident.
On 04.02.2026, a resident of Sirah Kotla, Kakryal approached Police Post Kakryal and lodged a written complaint stating that his minor daughter had been kidnapped by some unknown person. Acting swiftly on the complaint, a case FIR No. 48/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Katra and investigation was immediately initiated.
Under the close supervision of senior officers, multiple teams were constituted to trace the missing girl. Intensive search operations and raids were conducted at various locations within and outside the Union Territory. Technical surveillance, human intelligence and physical verification were extensively utilized during the investigation.
With sustained efforts and coordinated action, the minor girl along with the accused was finally traced from Ajmer Sharif, Rajasthan on 12.02.2026. The accused, identified as Sahil Ali S/O Abdul Rashid R/O Sirah Colony, Kakaryal, was apprehended on the spot.
After completing all necessary medical and legal formalities of the victim, the accused has been taken into custody. Further investigation in the case is in progress.
The whole operation was carried out by ICC PP Kakryal PSI Akhilesh khajuria and SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh-JKPS reiterated commitment to ensuring the safety and security of women and children and urges the public to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police establishment.
