DHS Doda clinches victory in Anti Drug Awareness Cricket Match at Bhaderwah

DODA, Feb 16: With the objective of spreading awareness under the Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan, a one day cricket exhibition match was played between District Health Society Doda and SDH Bhaderwah at Govt. PG College Ground, Bhaderwah, on Sunday 15-02-2026.
The match was jointly organized by District Health Society (DHS) Doda and SDH Bhaderwah, under the banner of District Administration Doda and with the aim of motivating youth and the younger generation towards sports activities and steering them away from drug abuse through positive engagement.
The DHS Doda team was led by Mr. Umar Anayat, whereas the SDH Bhaderwah team was captained by Dr. Amir Malik.
After winning the toss, DHS Doda elected to bat first and set a competitive target of 212 runs in the allotted 25 overs. The team got off to a solid start with a strong opening partnership. Dr. Waseem Natnoo emerged as the highest scorer with a brilliant knock of 70 runs, while Irfan Thouker contributed 53 runs. Irshad Malik added 25 runs and Ahrar Dev chipped in with 14 runs.
From SDH Bhaderwah, Jahangir Mehta and Dr. Amit Baloria claimed two wickets each.
In reply, SDH Bhaderwah fought hard but managed to score 204 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, thereby losing the match by a narrow margin of 8 runs. Dr. Touseef Malik was the top scorer with 53 runs, followed by Dr. Yasir Riaz with 37 runs, Dr. Amit Baloria with 28 runs, and Dr. Amir Malik who contributed 20 runs. From DHS Doda, Ankit Baloria took two wickets, while Ahrar Dev, Asif Wani, Nawaz Butt, and Irshad Malik claimed one wicket each.
Dr. Waseem Natnoo was declared Man of the Match for his outstanding batting performance.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by the presence of Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh (IAS), Chairman DDC Doda, Dhananter Singh, Vice Chairperson DDC Doda, Sangeeta Bhagat, Tehsildar Bhaderwah, Kamal Preet Singh, and Tehsildar Kastigarh, Pushpak Saroop, who distributed prizes among both the teams and appreciated the initiative taken by the Health Department to promote a drug-free society through sports.
The event concluded with a renewed pledge to continue such activities for promoting health, unity, and awareness among the youth of the district.
