Early Times Report HIRANAGAR, Feb 16: The Department of Environmental Sciences, Government GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar, organized an educational visit to the Community Health Center, Hiranagar for the students of sixth semester as part of their academic curriculum and field-based learning. The visit was organized under the guidance and patronage of the Principal of the college, Dr. Pragya Khanna, whose continuous encouragement promotes experiential and community-based learning among students. The visit was coordinated under the supervision of Professor Neeru Sharma, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences, along with Dr. Nishu, who guided the students throughout the activity and ensured the smooth conduct of the field study. The department also extends special thanks to the Principal for granting permission and supporting such meaningful academic initiatives. During the visit, the students interacted with the medical officers and healthcare staff of the Health Center to gain practical insights into various public health concerns. The discussions focused on the causes, symptoms, prevention, and control measures of air-borne, water-borne, and food-borne diseases prevalent in the region. The healthcare professionals elaborated on seasonal disease trends, vaccination programs, sanitation measures, and community awareness initiatives undertaken at the center. As part of their practical training, the students conducted a structured survey to assess the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices (KAP) of healthcare workers at the CHC through a well-designed questionnaire. They gathered data over the past few months to understand awareness levels, preventive strategies adopted, and the implementation of health and hygiene protocols within the facility. This activity provided students with valuable hands-on experience in public health data collection and analysis using scientific methods. The visit proved to be highly informative and interactive, effectively bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world healthcare practices. It also strengthened collaboration between academic institutions and healthcare services in promoting community health awareness. The Department of Environmental Sciences expressed sincere gratitude to the medical staff of the Community Health Center for their cooperation and valuable guidance, which greatly enriched the students' learning experience. The college remains committed to organizing such academic visits to enhance practical exposure and foster a deeper understanding of environmental and public health issues among students. |
