Early Times Report
KATRA, Feb 17: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH), Kakryal, District Reasi, has been granted Provisional Accreditation by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to commence the DNB - Hospital Administration (Post MBBS) programme. The accreditation is valid for five years, from January 2026 to December 2030, with one Post MBBS seat per academic session. The programme will be conducted in accordance with NBEMS guidelines and will undergo a mandatory review in the third year as per prescribed norms.
The DNB - Hospital Administration course aims to equip medical graduates with comprehensive expertise in hospital operations, healthcare quality systems, financial management, health economics, accreditation standards, and strategic leadership-thereby strengthening professional healthcare management capacity in the region.
Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Executive Director, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME), described the accreditation as a landmark milestone in the institution's academic journey. He emphasized that the programme will nurture skilled healthcare leaders capable of managing modern hospitals with efficiency, accountability, and a strong patient-centric approach.
Dr. M. M. Mathavan, Facility Director of SMVDNSH, stated that the recognition reflects the hospital's consistent commitment to academic advancement alongside clinical excellence. He noted that the institution has continuously strengthened its governance framework, infrastructure, and quality benchmarks to align with national standards in medical education and healthcare delivery.
The hospital functions under the aegis of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, whose vision and sustained support have been instrumental in establishing advanced healthcare and educational facilities in Jammu & Kashmir. The Shrine Board's strategic leadership has enabled the institution to achieve national-level recognition in both clinical services and medical training.
With this latest accreditation, SMVDNSH further expands its academic portfolio. The hospital is already accredited for DNB in Anaesthesia and DrNB in Critical Care, reinforcing its position as a growing center of excellence in postgraduate medical education and super-specialty training in the region.
