Sadhotra mourns demise of former MLC Brij Mohan Sharma, attends funeral

JAMMU, Feb 17: National Conference Additional General Secretary and former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today expressed deep grief over the sad demise of former Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Brij Mohan Sharma, describing his passing away as a profound loss to public life and to the democratic ethos of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sadhotra joined hundreds of mourners, including senior National Conference leaders, in the funeral as mortal remains of Brij Mohan Sharma were consigned to flames at Jogi Gate Cremation Grounds here.
In a condolence message, Sadhotra said Sharma was a dedicated public representative who earned respect across political and social spectrums through his simplicity, integrity and commitment to the welfare of the people. He said Sharma's life in public service stood as a testimony to principled politics rooted in empathy, accessibility and a deep sense of responsibility.
Recalling his association with the late leader, Sadhotra said Brij Mohan Sharma combined political insight with humane sensitivity, a rare quality that enabled him to connect effortlessly with people from all walks of life. He was a public representative in the truest sense - one who listened patiently, responded sincerely and knocked every door in the interest of the common man, he said.
Sadhotra said that during his tenure as MLC, Sharma consistently raised issues of public concern and conviction, reflecting his thorough understanding of grassroots realities. Describing him as a person of quiet dignity and simplicity, Sadhotra said Sharma never allowed personal ambition to overshadow collective interest. Such leaders leave behind a legacy that continues to inspire even after they are gone, he added.
Sadhotra said the demise of Brij Mohan Sharma has created a void that would be difficult to fill. He said the loss was deeply felt across the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
Conveying his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, Sadhotra prayed for strength and courage for them to bear the irreparable loss. He also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul, saying Brij Mohan Sharma would be remembered for his upright conduct, compassionate approach and enduring commitment to public service.
