Early Times Report
CHANDIGARH, Feb 18: Viksit Bharat Abhiyan Committee, Startup Cell, and Postgraduate Department of Commerce at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, under the aegis of Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), organised an educational visit to Entrepreneurship and Incubation Cell (EIC) and 5G Lab at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. The visit was conducted with the objective of providing students exposure to emerging technologies and entrepreneurial ecosystems.
The programme featured four informative sessions by domain experts, offering valuable insights into Technology Readiness Levels (TRL), technology transfer from academic institutions to industry, global trends in women's participation in technical fields, and the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in shaping the future of industries. Dr. Simranjit Singh, Coordinator, EIC, acquainted the participants with the facilities available at the 5G Lab and highlighted the institutional support provided to students with entrepreneurial aspirations. The sessions collectively enabled students to understand the operational, technical, and strategic dimensions of startups, while also exploring how partnerships and market dynamics influence the business environment. The visit proved highly enriching, equipping students with knowledge about the role of technology in assessing startup feasibility, the integration of AI in contemporary business models, and the automation of startup processes for improved efficiency and productivity. A total of 50 students from diverse courses and streams participated in the visit.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of such experiential learning opportunities in fostering innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, and holistic development among students. She added that the visit reflected the institution's continued commitment to empowering learners through meaningful engagement with advanced technologies and industry ecosystems.
