GCOE Jammu organize Awareness Rally on Drug Abuse & HIV/AIDS

JAMMU, Feb 19: Government College of Education, Jammu, through its Red Ribbon Club in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the NCORD Committee, organized an Awareness Rally on Drug Abuse and HIV/AIDS to sensitize students and the community about the growing menace of substance abuse and the importance of HIV/AIDS prevention.
The rally was organized under the guidance of Prof. Ramzan Ali, Convener NCORD Committee, Prof. Roopa Kumari, Convener Red Ribbon Club and Dr Shubhra Jamwal NSSPO. NSS volunteers actively participated by carrying banners and placards displaying messages on awareness, prevention, healthy living, and social responsibility. The rally passed through prominent areas near the campus, spreading strong messages against drug abuse and in favor of a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.
Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Principal, Government College of Education, appreciated the collective efforts of the organizing committees and students. In her address, she emphasized that educational institutions play a vital role in shaping responsible citizens. She urged students to remain vigilant against negative influences, adopt positive values, and act as ambassadors of awareness in society. She also highlighted the importance of moral strength, self-discipline, and informed decision-making in leading a successful life.
The programme was graced by Prof. Sunanda Rani, Dr. Rajinder Kour, Dr. Davinder Kour, Prof. Shallu Jasrotia, Dr. Shushma Bala, and Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, who motivated students to stay away from drugs and actively participate in social awareness initiatives. The speakers elaborated on the harmful physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug addiction and stressed the need for early prevention, counseling, and community support systems.
The event concluded with a pledge taken by all participants to work collectively towards building a drug-free, healthy, and informed society. The rally reflected the institution's strong commitment to social responsibility, community engagement, and youth empowerment through the collaborative efforts of the Red Ribbon Club, NSS, and NCORD Committee.
