Early Times Report RS PURA, Feb 20: ICAR, AICRP-Weed Management, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu organized a one-day Farmers' Training Programme on "Recent Weed Management Technologies in Natural/Organic Farming" at Village Rangpur Muliania, Suchetgarh, under the aegis of the Directorate of Research, SKUAST-Jammu. Dr. B.R. Bazaya, Incharge, AICRP-Weed Management, graced the occasion and addressed the gathering. Dr. Manpreet Kour, Senior Scientist delivered a detailed lecture on cultural and biological methods for the effective management of crop-associated weeds. She highlighted the role of crop rotation, mulching, intercropping, and biological agents in reducing weed infestation. Dr. M.C. Dwivedi, Professor, Agronomy, spoke on mechanical approaches to weed management and demonstrated the effectiveness of various mechanical tools in controlling obnoxious weeds without the use of chemicals. After traning programme a kit of small tools were distributed among the farmers under SCSP component. The programme was attended by more than 50 farmers from the village and nearby areas. Prominent local representatives including Jasvir Singh Smotra, Sarpanch Panchayat Rangpur Muliania; Sushil Choudhary; Geeta Choudhary and Ashwani Kumar, Ex-Panch, were also present on the occasion. The training programme concluded with an interactive session addressing farmers' queries, followed by a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Manpreet Kour. |
