| Balbir, Prem Gupta serve langar to poor in Bakshi Nagar | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 20: Former Vice Chairman and social activist Balbir Ram Rattan, along with prominent businessman Prem Gupta, on Friday, served langar to a large number of poor and needy people in the Bakshi Nagar area of Jammu city. The langar, being run by Prem Gupta, has been serving free day meals to underprivileged sections of society uninterruptedly for over 14 months. Every day, hundreds of people, including daily wage workers, elderly citizens, and poor individuals, benefit from the initiative, which has become a symbol of compassion and community solidarity in the area. Balbir Ram Rattan appreciated the noble efforts of Prem Gupta for consistently serving the poor and needy through this self-funded langar. He highlighted that what makes the initiative particularly remarkable is that Gupta is running it entirely from his own resources without accepting any donations from individuals or organizations. "Langar is a great social service and a living example of humanity in action," said Balbir Ram Rattan. He said that feeding a poor person is a noble cause and one of the highest forms of service to society. In times when many struggle to secure even one proper meal a day, such efforts bring hope and dignity to the less fortunate. Prem Gupta has set an inspiring example for others to follow, he said. Balbir further emphasized that social responsibility does not always require large platforms or publicity, but a sincere commitment to helping those in need. He urged other well-off members of society to come forward and contribute in whatever way they can to support the underprivileged. Prem Gupta, on this occasion, expressed his deep commitment to continuing the service. This langar is my humble contribution to society. Seeing smiles on the faces of those who receive food here gives me immense satisfaction. As long as I am able, I will continue this service without interruption, he said. The initiative has earned widespread appreciation from local residents, who described it as a beacon of hope for many poor families. |
