NSS Unit of GDC Bhaderwah culminates 7-day Winter Camp with inspiring valedictory function

BHADERWAH, Feb 24: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Bhaderwah successfully concluded its 7-day winter camp today with a grand valedictory function followed by a certificate distribution ceremony. The camp was organised under the able guidance of Principal, Prof Mohd Farooq Mirza and convenorship of NSS PO, Prof. Mohd Yaseen Sirwal. Held from February 17 to 23, 2026, the camp engaged dedicated NSS volunteers in transformative community service activities. The winter camp, themed "Youth for Social Transformation," emphasized the role of youth in addressing local challenges like environmental conservation, health awareness, and rural development in the Bhaderwah region. The valedictory event, graced by Chief Guest Prof. Mohd Farooq Mirza, Principal of college, NSS Programme Officer Mohd. Yaseen Sirwal, and college dignitaries, commenced with a welcome address by NSS PO. Volunteers shared poignant experiences through speeches. Principal, Prof Mohd Farooq Mirza commended the participants for their selfless service, stating, "Such camps embody the spirit of NSS in building a resilient and self-reliant India." NSS Programme Officer Mohd. Yaseen Sirwal remarked, "This winter camp has ignited a spark of social responsibility in our youth, aligning with national goals for sustainable development. GDC Bhaderwah remains committed to expanding such initiatives. "The faculty who graced the occasion include Prof. Mohd. Maqbool Pala, Dr Aijaz Ahmed Wani, Prof. Bashir Ahmed, Dr Anayat-ul-lah wani, Prof. Mohd Arif Sheikh, Dr Swarna Singh and Dr Bilal Ahmed Sheikh. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by NSS Programme Officer of college who thanked Principal for his unwavering and logistic support during the camp. He also thanked all staff members and students who are directly or indirectly involved in making this camp a resounding success.
