NSS Unit of Dogra Degree College inaugurates week-long Winter Camp at Palli

JAMMU, Feb 24: The NSS Unit of Dogra Degree College, Autonomous, inaugurated its week-long NSS Winter Camp at Palli Village with great enthusiasm, marking the commencement of a series of community outreach initiatives focused on social awareness, health education, environmental responsibility, and rural development.
The programme was conducted under the able guidance of Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal Dogra Degree College, whose continuous encouragement and leadership inspire students to actively engage in social responsibility and nation-building. The inaugural ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolising wisdom, positivity, and purposeful beginnings.
The NSS Programme Officer, Ms. Simran Thakur, formally welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, and NSS volunteers. In her address, she highlighted the objectives of the Winter Camp, emphasizing community development, awareness generation on social and health issues, environmental consciousness, and the role of youth in nation-building. Ms. Pranika Gupta, NSS Committee Member, was also present and played an active role in coordinating the day's activities along with the volunteers.
The highlight of the inaugural day was an informative and interactive awareness session delivered by Mr. Ranbir Singh, Regional Manager, IPCA Laboratories Ltd. He sensitized the volunteers and villagers on crucial health-related issues including the importance of hygiene and sanitation in rural areas, safe and responsible use of medicines, prevention of communicable diseases, and the role of youth as catalysts of health awareness. He encouraged NSS volunteers to act as ambassadors of health and social change within their communities. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation and meaningful interaction from both volunteers and villagers.
Following the session, NSS volunteers conducted a door-to-door campaign in Palli Village to spread awareness about waste segregation. The volunteers educated residents on the importance of separating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste to promote cleanliness, environmental protection, and sustainable waste management practices. The initiative was appreciated by the villagers and reflected the spirit of community partnership.
The first day of the NSS Winter Camp concluded on a motivating and positive note, showcasing the dedication, social commitment, and proactive engagement of NSS volunteers of Dogra Degree College towards building a healthier, cleaner, and more socially aware society.
