| GCW Gandhi Nagar organises industrial exposure visit cum consumer awareness program | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 24: A consumer awareness and public safety program cum an industrial exposure visit were organized by BIS, JKBO in collaboration with BIS Club of P.S.P.S. Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar on 23rd February, 2026 at BIS, JKBO, Bari Brahmana, Jammu. A total of 30 students of the college along with two faculty members, Dr. Rajni Khajuria (Mentor, BIS Club of the college) and Dr. Babita Jamwal attended the program on Helmet Awareness Drive at BIS office, followed by their visit to The Fire Service Station, Bari Brahmana, Jammu. The visit was organized under the abled guidance of Dr. Kulvinder Kour, esteemed Principal of the College. The main objective of the visit was to provide the students with practical exposure to the functioning of the National Standards Body of India and to enhance their understanding of quality assurance, standardization processes and consumer safety initiatives, with prime focus on fire extinguishing services, fire alarm services, and fire protection methods through practical learning by the fire station officials, emphasizing upon their role during fire emergencies. The students also had interactive discussions with BIS officials including Sh. Hitesh Yadav (Deputy Director) and Sh. Ashish Dwivedi (Standard Promotion Officer) on various aspects such as the role of BIS in national development, various awareness drives/programs organized by BIS, information about various standardization processes with special talk on the quality check, authenticity and HUID marking of different carats of gold ornaments available for public buying. They also had a visit to the Gold Assaying Laboratory in the BIS office where they got to know about the method of extraction and purification of gold form its alloy (a gold ornament). The visit was very informative, learning and enriching for the students. The transportation and refreshments were also arranged for all the participants by BIS office. |
