GDC Ramban organizes District Level Capacity Building Workshop

RAMBAN, Feb 25: GDC Ramban in collaboration with Fire & Emergency Services, Ramban organized one day District Level Capacity Building Workshop on Disaster Management under the patronage of Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri, Principal GDC Ramban. The theme of the workshop was "Disaster Risk & Preparedness Strategies and Search & Rescue Operations." The workshop aimed at enhancing awareness and practical response skills among participants to deal with disaster situations. Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri, in his address, highlighted the significance of Disaster Preparedness and Awareness trainings particularly in the geographically sensitive region like Ramban. He thanked Sh. Sahil Bandral, Assistant Director, Fire and Emergency Services, Ramban for supporting this initiative and for providing resource persons along with training equipment for the same. He also lauded the efforts of Disaster Management Committee of the College for organising this programme. Prof. Aditya Sharma, Convener Disaster Management Committee, in his address, explained the key elements of Disaster preparation and risk reduction strategies in case of Floods, Landslides, Earthquakes and thunderstorms. The workshop was conducted by expert resource persons deputed by Fire and Emergency Services Department, Ramban. Tariq Ahmed Naik and Sunil Kumar, resource person for today's workshop, elaborated upon the various emergency situations and fire incidents in particular. He discussed various ways by which we can avoid and cope up with such incidents.
A large number of staff and students including those of neighbouring Colleges attended the workshop. The whole event was coordinated by Dr. Sanjay Kumar. Prof. Ram Parksah, Prof. Arjun Gupta and Prof. Narotam Singh played important role in organizing the workshop. Prof. Satish Kumar, Prof. Raj Kumar Gupta, Dr. Romesh Chander and Dr. Jawaid Sarver were also present. The Programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Rabinder Kumar.
