JAMMU, Feb 25: Indian Red Cross Society, J&K under the leadership of Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Sh. Manoj Sinha (Hon'ble President, IRCS, J&K-UT) and supervision of Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K is undertaking a significant humanitarian mission to help the society in different areas of J&K. Today, on 22nd April, 2025 IRCS, J&K has conducted series of activities:
Drug De-Addiction awareness Camp:- Indian Red Cross Society, J&K UT organized an awareness program today at Govt. Middle School, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu against the Drugs menace spreading in the society. Red Cross educates the students about the dangers of drug abuse, its impact on physical and mental health and avenues for seeking help.
The main aim behind the programme was to discourage the use of drugs among the youth and inspire students to utilize their energies and other resources in positive and social development.
During the session, Manjari Singh educated the students about the ill effects of drug addiction while outlining the present scenario of substance abuse, its impact on physical and mental health, and avenues for seeking help. Through this interactive session, students gained insights into the physiological, psychological, and legal implications of drug use.
The free consultation to the students and other persons affected by the menace drugs are given in the centre established at Red Cross Attendant Sarai, Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu
Free Tea Services for the attendants of the patients at Govt. Medical College and Hospital:- The Indian Red Cross Society, J&K, is steadfast in its commitment to humanitarian service by continuing its free tea distribution initiative for patients and their attendants at Government Medical Hospital, Jammu, and other affiliated hospitals.
This ongoing initiative aims to provide comfort and care to those in need during difficult times. Hundred of cups of tea are served daily, offering a small but meaningful relief to attendants and patients waiting for treatment. The service is part of IRCS JK's broader mission to support the community through compassionate and practical assistance.
Team Red Cross is actively engaged in ensuring the smooth and hygienic distribution of tea, with the organization receiving widespread appreciation from beneficiaries and hospital authorities alike.
First-Aid Training at Red Cross Bhawan, kachi Chawni Jammu:- Eight days First-Aid training was organized by the Indian Red Cross Society, J&K UT which concluded on 12th April, 2025 at Red Cross Bhawan Kachi Chawni Jammu for the commercial Vehicle Drivers and others.
The lecture was delivered/ demonstrated by Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Dr.Manpreet Kaur, Medical officers along with Sh. Ravi Kant Magotra, Supervisor Pharmacist. The participants were trained about the ABC of First-Aid, Traumas, Bleeding and types of bandages, practical demonstration on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Transportation of injured person etc. The trainees were also apprised of the various techniques of Disaster Management during Earthquakes, Fires, Floods, famine etc.
Apart from this, all the queries made by the students regarding the healthy lifestyle and other health issues were cleared by the Doctors and they also provided some tips regarding the healthy lifestyle. A special lecture on drug de-addiction was also given to the participants. The training went quite fruitful and concluded with good positivity.
The exam was conducted by Dr. Kavita Nijhon along with Sh. Ravi Kant Magotra, Sup. Pharmacist. During the last day of session all the participants were issued with Provisional certificates.
