Road Safety Club of GDC Bishnah organizes Competitions

JAMMU, Feb 25: The Road Safety Club of the college successfully organized Painting and Slogan Writing Competitions on 25th February 2026, in accordance with the directions issued by the Director Colleges, JK Higher Education Department. The event aimed to spread awareness about road safety measures and responsible civic behavior among students.
A total of 20 students enthusiastically participated in the programme, with 10 students competing in the Painting Competition and 10 students in the Slogan Writing Competition. The competitions showcased creativity, awareness, and a strong sense of social responsibility among participants.
The event was conducted under the esteemed guidance and supervision of Principal Dr Shallu Samyal, whose constant encouragement and commitment to student engagement ensured the smooth and successful execution of the programme.
The competitions were adjudged by Prof Shrotika Rajput, Head of the Department of Political Science, and Prof Kashab Sharma, Head of the Department of History. The judges appreciated the originality, clarity of message, artistic expression, and relevance to the theme of road safety demonstrated by the participants.
In Painting Competition, Ariba secured 1st place, Anita secured 2nd and Vanshika stood 3rd. In Slogan writing competition, Suksham stood 1st , Meenakshi stood 2nd and Pooja stood 3rd.
The judges, in their remarks, observed that the entries reflected a deep understanding of traffic regulations and highlighted critical issues such as the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, avoiding overspeeding, and following road signs. They commended the students for presenting impactful and thought-provoking messages through both visual art and concise slogans.
It was also announced that the First Prize winners of both competitions will be nominated to represent the college at the District Level Competitions, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their talent and awareness on a larger platform.
The event was convened by Dr Sapna Bhargav, Convenor of the Road Safety Club, who played a pivotal role in organizing and coordinating the activities. In her address, she emphasized that road safety awareness must begin at the grassroots level and that students act as ambassadors of change in society. She appreciated the enthusiastic participation and encouraged students to continue promoting responsible road behavior.
