Week long training training programme on Data Analytics, Statistical Methods held

JAMMU, Feb 25: The valedictory function of the one-week training programme on "Data Analytics and Statistical Methods in the Era of AI for Sustainable Agriculture and Allied Sciences" was successfully held following the completion of the programme conducted from February 18 to 24, 2026. The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and technical skills of participants in the application of data analytics, artificial intelligence, and advanced statistical methods for sustainable agriculture and allied sectors.
The programme was organized under the aegis of the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) Project-17 Sensor Based Smart Agriculture in collaboration with Division of Statistics and Computer Science at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu.
The valedictory session commenced with a welcome address and presentation of workshop feedback by Dr. Manish Kumar Sharma, Professor & Head, Division of Statistics & Computer Science and Co-Principal Investigator Co-PI (I) of HADP Project-17. He highlighted the importance of integrating AI-driven analytical tools in modern agricultural research and appreciated the enthusiastic participation and keen interest shown by the trainees throughout the programme.
Dr. Sushil Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering (FoAE) and Principal Investigator of HADP Project-17, addressed the gathering and commended the efforts of the organizing team and distinguished resource persons for the successful conduct of the training. He emphasized the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence and data-driven decision-making in achieving sustainable agricultural.
Participants shared their feedback, they are now able to analyse data using R, SPSS, and Python, reflecting the effectiveness of the hands-on training. The average self-assessed knowledge score increased significantly from 2.25 to 4.3 out of 5 after the programme, indicating substantial improvement in understanding and technical skills. Participants rated their overall skill enhancement at 4.2 out of 5 and unanimously appreciated the usefulness of the practical sessions and exposure visit. Overall, the feedback highlights the successful achievement of the programme's objective in strengthening capacity in Data Analytics and advanced statistical methods for sustainable agriculture and allied sciences.
Certificates were distributed to all participants during the ceremony. Dr. Parshant Bakshi, Professor & Head, Division of Fruit Science and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI II) of HADP Project-17, acknowledged the valuable contributions of the organizers, speakers, and participants in making the programme a grand success.
