Inter-Block District Level YSS Cricket Cup "Leagues of Classics" kicks off in Doda

DODA, Feb 25: The District Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Department Doda today commenced the Inter-Block District Level YSS Cricket Cup -Leagues of Classics, marking a significant initiative towards strengthening the sports culture and promoting healthy competition in the region.
The mega cricket championship is witnessing enthusiastic participation from 17 Blocks and 03 Municipal Committees, setting the stage for a vibrant and competitive sporting event and reflecting the growing passion for sports among local youth.
The matches are being conducted simultaneously at four designated venues across the district at Departmental Sports Ground- Ghat, Government Degree College Bhaderwah, University Campus Bhaderwah and Helipad Ground Bhalessa.
The prestigious championship is being organized under the guidance of Director General YSS J&K, Anuradha Gupta, Joint Director Jammu, Vinakshi Koul and Deputy Director (Activities), Megha Baogia.
The competitions are being conducted by DYSSO, Jaffar H. Sheikh and concerned Zonal Physical Education Officers (ZPEOs), ensuring smooth and professional conduct of the tournament.
The opening match held at the Departmental Sports Ground-Ghat witnessed an impressive performance by Block Thathri as it defeated Block Marmat by 8 wickets.
Batting first, Marmat posted a competitive total of 97/3 in 10 overs, with Sameer Ahmed top-scoring with a fine knock of 36 runs. From Thathri's bowling side, Yasub Khan and Sami claimed one wicket each.
In response, Thathri chased down the target convincingly in just 6.3 overs. Yasub Khan played a brilliant innings of 42 runs, well supported by Babar Ahmed, who contributed 25 runs. For Marmat, Zahid and Amit picked up one wicket each.
The match was officiated by an expert panel from the YSS Department comprising Faheem Farooq Zargar, Shahnawaz Wani, Imran Mughal, Muzamil Hussain, Pawan Sharma, Mohd Saleem, Inderjeet Singh and Anil Kumar, ensuring fair and smooth conduct of the game.
