GDC Thannamandi organizes One Day Students Conference on Road Safety

THANNAMANDI, Feb 26: Government Degree College Thannamandi today organized a One Day Students Conference on Road Safety under the theme "Road Safety Awareness: From Rules to Responsibility." The conference was organized by the Road Safety Club of the college with the objective of creating awareness among students about responsible road behavior and the importance of following traffic rules to prevent road accidents. The whole conference was organized under the guidance of the College Principal, Dr. Shamim Ahmed Azad, whose continuous support and encouragement made the event a great success.
The programme commenced with the National Anthem presented by the students of the college, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Ather Aziz Raina, Organizing Secretary of the conference. In his address, Dr. Raina highlighted the importance of road safety awareness among youth and emphasized the role of students in promoting responsible road usage in society.The students of the college also presented the College Tarana, which added enthusiasm and cultural spirit to the event.
The keynote address was delivered by DySP Traffic Rajouri-Poonch Range, Rajnish Salathia, who elaborated on the importance of traffic rules, safe driving practices, and the responsibilities of road users. He sensitized the students about the increasing number of road accidents and stressed the need for awareness and discipline while using roads.
A symposium on road safety was the major highlight of the conference in which students from different colleges of District Rajouri and Poonch actively participated and shared their views and suggestions on road safety awareness. The participating colleges included GDC Rajouri, GDC Doongi, GDC Kotranka, GDC Sunderbani, GDC Thannamandi, and GDC Surankote.
An invited talk was delivered by Mr. Ashaq Malik, IQAC Coordinator, GDC Thannamandi, who discussed the importance of responsible behavior and awareness in reducing road accidents and encouraged students to become ambassadors of road safety.
The Chief Guest, Abid Hussain Shah, SDM Thannamandi, delivered an informative lecture on road safety and highlighted the role of administration and citizens in ensuring safer roads. He appreciated the initiative taken by GDC Thannamandi in organizing such a meaningful awareness programme for students.
