Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Feb 26: The Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) exhibition continued to attract youth on its fourth day at Government Degree College (GDC) here today. The multimedia exhibition is being organized by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Students from Bhaskar Degree College, Udhampur and Government Degree College participated in the programme. The participants were briefed on the themes Startup India and Mission Aroma by Shri Vikram Uppal, In-charge, CBC, Doda. Brij Vallabh Gupta, Chief Horticulture Officer, Udhampur, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. In his address, he spoke about youth-led innovation and the role of government initiatives in promoting entrepreneurship. Referring to initiatives launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that the Government is working to strengthen the startup ecosystem through financial and institutional support. He also highlighted the progress under the Aroma Mission, including cultivation of lavender, and said that such crops are creating opportunities for farmers and agri-entrepreneurs. B.L. Ambardar, representative of the State Bank of India spoke about the role of financial institutions in supporting startups. He informed students about loan facilities available under various schemes, including MUDRA. Pooja Dutta from the Handloom Department informed participants about subsidy schemes and training programmes for youth in the handloom and handicrafts sector. She encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship opportunities in traditional crafts. Sanjeev Kumar, Horticulture Development Officer, informed the participants about horticulture schemes, including 50 percent subsidy for cultivation of apple, kiwi and dragon fruit. He said these schemes can support farmers and youth interested in agri-based startups. Earlier, Gurnam Singh, In-charge, CBC, Udhampur, gave an overview of the activities of the Central Bureau of Communication. The programme included expert sessions, a quiz competition and cultural presentations by CBC artists and college students. The event concluded with the recitation of the National Anthem. |
