Parents, Children on Mobile
2/26/2026 10:34:34 PM
Dr. Vijay Garg

Today’s era is the digital age.Mobile phones have become an integral part of human life. While they are a treasure trove of facilities and information, they are also having a profound effect on family relations and children’s destiny. The greatest impact can be seen in parent-child relationships.
Mobile: Reason for Convenience or Distance?
Today, parents find less time to interact with children due to their busy and hectic lives.More often the children are given a mobile in their hand for keeping them quiet. It seems an easy solution at first, but gradually it becomes habit.
The child attaches to the screen instead of a parent’s lap.Emotional attachment is reduced as a result.
Impact on children’s development
The rampant use of the mobile affects children’s physical and mental development by:
delays in language development
Decreased ability to concentrate
Sleep problems
Effects on the eye and physical health
Increased anger and irritability
If children sit in front of a screen instead of playing outside, their social abilities also decrease.
The role of parents is the most important
Children learn what they see.If parents themselves are busy in mobile all the time, it becomes difficult to keep children away from mobile.
Some essential steps for parents:
Set up an at-home mobile timer
Stay off the screen during meals
Interact with children on a daily basis
Tell stories and get them to read books
Look out for outdoor play and creative activities
Balanced use of technology
Mobile phones are not completely wrong. They are useful tools for education, information and creativity. But control over the duration of use and content is mandatory.
Result
Children need love, time and guidance not mobile. If parents spend quality time with their children, they will learn not only the proper use of technology but also understand real values in life.
Mobile is a tool — but family relationships are the real strength of life.
