District Level Road Safety Awareness-2026 at SPPND GDC Samba

SAMBA, Feb 27: Government Degree College Samba organized District Level Competitions as part of Road Safety Awareness-2026 under the guidance of the revered Principal, Prof (Dr.) Nirlape Kour. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and commendable talent from students across the colleges of Samba District, GDC Vijaypur, GDC Ramgarh, GDC Gaghwal, GDC Purmandal and the host college SPPND GDC Samba.
In varied events like Painting, Slogan Writing, Elocution and Road Safety Awareness Rally, the participants and students effectively conveyed messages of road safety, responsible driving, and civic awareness through creative artwork, impactful slogans and confident expression of views. A Road Safety Awareness Rally was also conducted from the college premises towards Mansar Road in which NCC , NSS volunteers, along with Principals, faculty, and students from participating colleges, spreading awareness among the public through placards and slogans like 'Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha', 'Safe Drive, Safe Life'.
The Chief guest of the event was Dr. Sujata Slathia, Principal, GDC Ghagwal. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of lamp followed by welcome address by Assoc. Prof. Mala Bhasin. The jury members were Dr. Sunita from PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar, Asst. Prof. Amit Singh from GDC Hiranagar, Dr. Meenakshi from GDC Udhampur. The Chief Guest addressed the gathering, appreciating the initiative and active participation of students in such important events. The Principal of the host college laid stress on the importance of youth engagement in promoting road safety awareness and following traffic rules to build a culture of safety.
In the painting competition , Diksha Bhagat (SPPND GDC Samba), Saharsh Dev Singh(GDC Vijaypur) and Sonika Devi (GDC Ramgarh) won the first second and third prize respectively. In slogan writing Arti Thakur (SPPND GDC Samba ) bagged the first prize, Vishal Sharma (GDC Vijaypur) second and Neha Devi (GDC Gaghwal) bagged the third position. In the Elocution contest, Punam Sharma(GDC Purmandal) got the first prize, Tania Devi(GDC Gaghwal) clinched the second place and Danish Bhagat (SPPND GDC Samba) won the third prize. The District-Level winners will now represent District Samba at the forthcoming Divisional-Level Competitions. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Co-Convener Dr. Ramandeep Kour, followed by the National Anthem.
The successful conduct of the event reflects the commitment of Government Degree College, Samba, towards fostering awareness, creativity, and social responsibility among students.
