2/27/2026 9:46:08 PM
Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Feb 27: MLA Udhampur East Ranbir Singh Pathania today said that Bharat Sarkar stands committed for creating a sense of security in J & K. Recent successes of forces in Udhampur , Kishtwar stand testimony to the said resolve and the professional acumen and perseverance of belt forces. Zero tolerance towards terrorism is the clear and firm policy of the Modi Sarkar, asserting that sustained operations by security forces have significantly improved the security situation across remote areas of the region.
Interacting with people during his visit to Garh Samna Banj, Surara, Madora, Thani, Dhamma, Neeli and adjoining areas, Pathania observed that there was a time when some of these villages had witnessed militant movement and insecurity. However, due to the determined efforts of the Indian Armed Forces, paramilitary forces and the Jammu & Kashmir Police, the situation has changed considerably and a sense of confidence has returned among the people.
Earlier, the MLA visited Government Degree College Majalta where he interacted with staff and students and took stock of the newly constructed infrastructure. He said that after the formation of the Modi Government in 2014, this was among the first degree colleges established in the area, strengthening access to higher education in rural belts.
Pathania noted that the college had earlier remained entangled in disputes and litigation, but now a modern state-of-the-art building has come up. Accompanied by officials of the PWD Department, he inspected the facilities and reviewed the progress of works. He also informed that the approach road connecting the college with Dhar Road has been completed and blacktopping will start shortly.
The Principal of the college, Dr. Shalini Sharma, was also present and apprised the MLA about certain improvements required in the institution. Pathania directed officials that unless all specifications mentioned in the allotment and BOQ are fully complied with by the executing agency, the formal handover of the building should be withheld.
During his tour, Pathania also operationalised a water supply scheme and reviewed works under the Jal Jeevan Mission, reiterating the Government's commitment to provide safe drinking water to every household. He directed departments to restore suspended connections and speed up pending works.
The MLA also laid the foundation stone for the road from Dhamma to Thani and issued directions for completion of the Water Supply Scheme at Ghar Dhamma, installation of borewells and repair of defunct motors.
Highlighting environmental conservation and tourism potential, he said that Neeli Talab and Dhamma Talab will be developed as attractive ponds with basic facilities which can also generate livelihood opportunities for local youth.
