Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 28: The 2nd Meeting of the Board of Studies (BoS) for the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) Programme at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University was held through online mode. The proceedings were coordinated from the Tinkering Studio of the B.Design Programme. Pertinently, SMVDU launched the Bachelor of Design Programme in 2024 and is presently the only university in the region offering a full- fledged undergraduate Design programme, marking a significant academic milestone in the field of Design education in Jammu & Kashmir. The meeting was attended by Prof. Ankush Anand, Coordinator, B.Design; Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq, Associate Professor, SME; Mr. Abhinav Behal, Assistant Professor (Contractual), B.Design Programme. Distinguished external members included Prof. L.K. Das (Former Head, Department of Design, IIT Delhi), Prof. Kishore Munshi (Former Professor, School of Design, IIT Mumbai), Prof. Ranganathan M. Singari, Department of Design, DTU, New Delhi and Mr. Pranav Kumar, Industry Expert from Whirlpool Industries, Gurgaon. attended the meeting. In his welcome address Prof. Ankush Anand, Coordinator of the Program briefed the board members about the various activities and initiatives being taken for B. Design program at SMVDU. The board carried out a detailed review of the curriculum structure and syllabus across semesters to enhance academic depth, contemporary relevance, and industry alignment in emerging areas of Design Education. The Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, Prof. Pragati Kumar, conveyed his best wishes to the Board members and faculty for their proactive efforts in strengthening the academic framework of the B.Design Programme and appreciated the initiative toward continuous curriculum upgradation. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to all members for their valuable insights and contributions. |
