| Reasi police apprehended drug peddler | | |  Early Times Report
REASI, Feb 28: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, District Police Reasi achieved significant success by apprehending a suspected drug peddler at Katra. A naka was established at New Bus Stand, Katra by a team of Police Station Katra. During routine checking, one person identified as Sanjay Kumar S/O Shyam Lal R/O Sunderbani, District Rajouri, who was moving on foot in the area under suspicious circumstances, was intercepted and subjected to search. During the search, approximately 2.1 grams of heroin (commonly known as "chitta") like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused was immediately taken into custody on the spot. In this regard, Case FIR No. 63/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and forward linkages of the contraband. The entire operation was carried out by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS. SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh-JKPS, reaffirmed commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and appeals to the general public to cooperate with police and share any information related to drug trafficking. |
