Investiture Ceremony held at GDC Reasi

Reasi, Mar 1: Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi organized its Investiture Ceremony on February 28, 2026, with great enthusiasm and a vibrant spirit of leadership on the college campus. The event was conducted under the aegis of the Students’ Welfare Committee and witnessed active participation from a large number of students and faculty members. The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Sham Lal Gupta, who had served the institution over two decades ago as its Second Principal, adding a special sense of nostalgia and pride to the occasion. In a warm gesture of respect, the entire college community stood in two rows to welcome the Chief Guest. The programme was presided over by the worthy Principal, Prof. Mamta Gupta, while the proceedings were efficiently conducted by Irfan Ali. The programme commenced with a plantation drive led by the Chief Guest, symbolizing the institution’s commitment towards environmental consciousness, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. In her welcome address, the Principal congratulated the newly elected Students’ Council members and emphasized discipline, responsibility, and service-oriented leadership. She also welcomed the Chief Guest and thanked him for accepting the invitation.
The programme was formally introduced by Prof. Baldev, who highlighted the role of the Investiture Ceremony in nurturing democratic values among students. Badges and sashes were conferred upon the newly elected Students’ Council members, which includes President Shivani Sangam, Vice President Tarun Bhagat, General Secretary Manat Abrol, along with the elected Class Representatives. On the occasion, the Chief Guest ceremonially handed over the Mashal (torch) to the President, symbolizing the transfer of leadership and responsibility.

This was followed by a solemn oath-taking ceremony and a Mashal march-past within the college campus.
Addressing the gathering, the President assured her wholehearted commitment towards the welfare of the student community. The Chief Guest, in his insightful address, laid special emphasis on girl child education, ethical values, and advised students to remain cautious about excessive mobile phone usage and distractions.
As a mark of respect, a memento was presented to the Chief Guest, and appreciation was also extended to the anchor from the Students’ Welfare Committee. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Staff Secretary, Prof. Kewal Krishan, who acknowledged the efforts of the organizing committee, faculty members, and students. Refreshments were served thereafter.
The Investiture Ceremony proved to be a grand success, fostering leadership, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility among the students of GDC Reasi.
