J&K police files charge sheet in Rs 7 lakh fake govt job scam in Awantipora

AWANTIPORA, Mar 2: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday filed a charge sheet in a fake government job fraud case in Awantipora, in which the accused allegedly duped a person of ?7 lakh on the false promise of securing a government appointment.
In a statement, Police Station Awantipora has filed a charge sheet in FIR No. 09/2026 under Sections 318(4), 61(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) before the Hon'ble Court of the Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Awantipora, in a case pertaining to cheating and fraud on the false pretext of providing a government job.
The accused persons have been identified as Showkat Ahmad Dar, son of Gh. Mohd Dar @ Mom Dar, resident of Panzgam & Aijaz Ahmad Shah, son of Ali Mohd Shah, resident of Tral Payeen.
During investigation, it was established that the accused induced the complainant to part with ?7,00,000/- by falsely assuring appointment in a government department. The investigation, supported by bank transaction records and documentary evidence etc, has substantiated the involvement of the accused persons.
The investigation was headed by the Incharge Police Post Reshipora, SI Meheraj-ud-Din, under the supervision of the SHO Police Station Awantipora, Inspector Ajaz Ahmad. The case was investigated in a professional manner and concluded on the basis of material evidence.
J&K Police reiterates its commitment to act firmly against fraudsters and advises the general public not to fall prey to individuals promising government jobs in exchange for money. Citizens are urged to verify all recruitment information through official government notifications and to report such frauds immediately to the nearest police station. Police reaffirm their commitment to act firmly against anti-social elements and uphold public safety and trust.
