| Dogra Degree College concludes seven-day NSS special camp at Village Palli | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, Mar 2: The NSS Unit of Dogra Degree College (Autonomous) successfully concluded its Seven-Day Special NSS Camp at Village Palli, Samba, with a valedictory ceremony. The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation of NSS volunteers who actively engaged in a series of community-oriented, awareness-driven, and development-focused initiatives, reflecting the spirit of service and social responsibility. The valedictory programme was graced by Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, and Dr. Bela Thakur, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges and Principal, Dogra Degree College. In his address, Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak appreciated the proactive role of the Gram Panchayat and the residents of Village Palli for their continuous developmental efforts and community cooperation. He emphasised the need to sustain such initiatives for long-term rural development and also commended the NSS volunteers for their sincere contribution, discipline, and service-oriented approach. Dr. Bela Thakur lauded the volunteers for their dedication and encouraged students to actively participate in nation-building activities through community engagement. During the seven-day programme, eminent persons contributed significantly to the success of the camp. Mr. Ranvir Singh, Regional Director, IPCA, conducted an impactful awareness session on waste segregation and led a door-to-door campaign to educate villagers on proper waste management practices. Dr. Jyoti Dogra, Medical Officer (AYUSH), supervised the Medical Camp and delivered an informative session on nutrition, preventive healthcare, and healthy lifestyle practices. Mr. Kushal Singh Jamwal conducted an enlightening session on mushroom cultivation and vermi-composting, highlighting sustainable agricultural practices and self-employment opportunities for rural youth and farmers. Throughout the week, NSS volunteers conducted a social survey on various government welfare schemes to assess awareness and outreach among villagers. The camp also included a cleanliness drive and beautification of the Panchayat Ghar, highlighting the volunteers' commitment to environmental responsibility and civic duty. The valedictory function featured the felicitation of resource persons and vibrant cultural performances by NSS volunteers, including a skit based on the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and a traditional Dogri dance, which added cultural warmth to the programme. The event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks, followed by the National Anthem and a group photograph. The seven-day special camp stood as a true reflection of the NSS motto "Not Me, But You" reinforcing the values of selfless service, social responsibility, and meaningful community engagement among students. |
