Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 3: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies of Jammu organised the 13th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) Meeting here today at the KVK Reasi campus under the chairmanship of Dr. B. N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies of Jammu(SKUAST-J).The meeting was attended by statutory officers of SKUAST-Jammu, including Dr. Sushil Kumar Gupta, Director Research; Dr. Amrish Vaid, Director Extension; Dr. J. S. Soodan, Dean, Dairy Technology and Dr. Vikas Tandon, Dean, Horticulture & Forestry. District officers and representatives from line departments of Reasi and Udhampur districts, along with progressive farmers including farmwomen who are members of the SAC, also participated actively in the deliberations. The Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the SAC, Dr. B. N. Tripathi, joined the meeting through the virtual mode and emphasized the need for conducting baseline surveys to assess the impact of KVK interventions. He also stressed extending KVK outreach to far-flung areas so that new farmers could be associated with KVK activities. He also stressed on the new interventions on poultry and dairy sector. Dr. Amrish Vaid, Director Extension welcomed the Chairman and SAC members and highlighted the role and significance of the SAC in strengthening KVK activities for the welfare of the farming community. Dr. Sushil Kumar Gupta, Director Research, emphasized on popularizing the released varieties of SKUAST-Jammu among farmers. Dr. J. S. Soodan highlighted the need for need-based trainings and stressed imparting training on nutritional management of cattle during the lean periods. Dr. Vikas Tandon stressed the selection of suitable species of spices and elephant foot yam, for monkey-prone areas. Earlier Dr. Banarsi Lal, Chief Scientist & Head, KVK Reasi, presented the Action Taken Report of the previous SAC meeting and the proposed Action Plan of KVK-Reasi for the financial year 2026-27. The plan received valuable inputs and suggestions from officers and progressive farmers. He stress on natural farming to reduce the cost of cultivation and produce healthy food. He also discussed on commercial floriculture and lemon grass farming in monkey prone areas of the distt. Dr. Amrish Vaid,Director Extension congratulated the Head and staff of KVK Reasi for the successful organization of the meeting and emphasized strengthening the coordination with line departments for the benefit of farmers.Sh. Rajinder Kumar, Chief Horticulture Officer, Reasi, discussed on the establishment of mother plants demonstration blocks at the KVK campus. |
