SCERT Jammu conducts academic programme on key interventions for effective implementation of NEP 2020

JAMMU, Mar 14: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Jammu and Kashmir, Divisional Office Jammu, organised a One-Day Programme on "Key Interventions for Effective Implementation of NEP 2020" under the theme "Shiksha MeinNavachar, NEP 2020 Ka Aadhar" at Kisan Kendra, Talab Tillo, Jammu. The event brought together faculty members from District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) across the Jammu Division, enabling them to engage in meaningful academic discourse and deepen their understanding of the transformative reforms envisioned under NEP 2020.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary (JKAS), Director School Education Jammu and Director SCERT J&K, as the Chief Guest, along with Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, SCERT Jammu Division, in the presence of panel experts, senior faculty members and Coordinator. The inaugural session commenced with the traditional lighting of the auspicious lamp by the dignitaries, symbolising the dissemination of knowledge and enlightenment.
Manu Vasudeva, Associate Coordinator of the programme, presented the formal welcome address, cordially greeting dignitaries, academicians and participants while highlighting the theme and significance of the programme.
A brief concept note was presented by Ms. Monica Sharma, Coordinator of the programme, who elaborated on the objectives, thematic focus and expected outcomes of the programme.
An insightful address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, SCERT Jammu Division, who underscored the significance of adopting innovative, inclusive and learner-centred pedagogical approaches. She encouraged participants to actively engage in the deliberations and contribute towards effective implementation of NEP initiatives at the grassroots level.
Sharing his perspectives, Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, JKAS, Director School Education Jammu and Director State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Jammu and Kashmir, highlighted that the successful implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 requires innovation, inclusivity and strong academic leadership. He emphasised the vital role of teacher educators in translating policy initiatives into meaningful classroom practices and strengthening the quality of education.
The academic sessions featured research papers and presentations by SCERT faculty, highlighting various initiatives and innovative practices undertaken by the institution to operationalise the key recommendations of NEP 2020.
The presentations included "Research and Innovative Institutional Practices" by Dr. Neeraj Jandial; "Multilingualism under NEP 2020" by Ms. Monica Sharma; "From Policy to Practice: Capacity Building Initiatives in Teacher Education at SCERT J&K Jammu" by Ms. Arti Gupta and Ms. Manu Vasudeva; and "Strengthening Foundational Literacy and Numeracy under NEP 2020" by Dr. Sanjeevani and Mr. Anil Sharma.
Other noteworthy presentations included "Innovations in Assessment Reforms and HPC" by Mr. Rakesh Chobber; "Ullas Nav Bharat Saaksharta karyakram- Jan Jan Sakshar" by Mr. Paawan Vivek and Dr. Sandeep Singh, Principal, GHSS Ligri Kishtwar; "Interventions Promoting Inclusivity, Gender Sensitivity and Mental Health" by Dr. Rohini Sharma; and "Transformative Pedagogies and Learner-Centred Approaches" by Mr. Puneet Thukral, HOD, DIET, Samba. The programme also featured presentations on "Changing Landscape of Libraries: Learning Hubs as Envisioned by NEP 2020" by Dr. Bhuvi, and "Technology Enabled Teaching and Digital Resources" by Mr. Vivek Jandial and Dr. Balgar Singh, highlighting the role of digital innovations in contemporary education.
The technical sessions were chaired by a distinguished panel of academicians and educationists including of Prof. (Dr.) J. N. Baliya, Member NRC,NCTE GoI, Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu, Dr. Reena Salaria, HOD Linguistics and Literature, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, Cluster University of Jammu,. Prof.(Dr.) Veena Gupta, Retd. HOD Dogri Department, University of Jammu,(Dr.) Mohd. Zubair Kales, Dean Faculty of Education, Cluster University Jammu, Dr. Atul Hans, Director-cum-Principal, IDRS Jammu, Dr. Sarika Manhas, HOD and SWAYAM Coordinator, Department of Home Science, University of Jammu, Dr.Deep Bangotra, Assistant Professor, GDC Akhnoor, and Dr. Rakesh Bharti, Assistant Professor, GCOE Jammu. The chairpersons appreciated the scholarly quality and practical relevance of the presentations and offered insightful remarks that enriched the academic deliberations.
The diligence, and collaborative spirit of the organising teamensured the successful conduct of the programme, while the technical aspects were efficiently managed by Mr. Rakesh Chobber and Mr. Vivek Jandial.
The event concluded with a valedictory session graced by Ms. Manisha, JKAS, Personnel Officer, Directorate of School Education Jammu, who attended as the Guest of Honour. In her address, she appreciated the efforts of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu Division, in organising such academic initiatives to strengthen the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 and encouraged participants to translate the learnings into effective educational practices.
The session also witnessed the distribution of certificates to the participating DIET faculty. The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, resource persons and participants for their valuable contributions.
