He described their selection as a moment of immense pride for the Union Territory. He emphasized that such national recognition not only honours individual excellence but also serves as a strong inspiration for emerging writers and poets across the region. He said that literature has always been a powerful medium to preserve cultural identity, promote harmony, and reflect the collective consciousness of society. Highlighting the individual contributions of the awardees, Rattan said that Khajur Singh Thakur's work in Dogri literature has significantly strengthened regional linguistic heritage. He added that Ali Shaida's writings in Kashmiri vividly portray the ethos and aspirations of the people, while Pritpal Singh Betab's contribution to Urdu literature stands out for its emotional depth and intellectual richness. Balbir Ram Rattan further said that the selection of these three eminent writers for such a prestigious national honour is also a recognition of the vibrant literary culture of Jammu and Kashmir.
