24-year-old Harshit Sharma scripts history, secures 3rd rank in JKAS

AKHNOOR, Mar 20: Bringing pride to the region, Harshit Sharma (24), a bright youth from Bharda Kalan Panchayat in Akhnoor constituency, has secured the 3rd rank in the Jammu & Kashmir Administrative Services (JKAS) Examination 2026, creating a remarkable milestone through his dedication, discipline and hard work.
On this achievement, Akhnoor MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat personally visited Harshit's residence in Bharda Kalan and honoured him. In his address, he said that Harshit is an inspiration for society and youth, adding that his success will motivate future generations to dream big and achieve their goals. He also encouraged him to join the Jammu & Kashmir Administrative Services and serve the people of the region with commitment. Former Sarpanch Jagdish Raj also visited his residence and felicitated him. He termed Harshit's achievement as a matter of pride for the entire village and an inspiration for other youngsters.
Several dignitaries including former ZEO Baldev Raj, Jeevan Sharma, Captain Tulsi Dass, Keval Takaiya, Jaipal Sharma, Mahesh Chander, Rajinder Singh (ABRSM), Rakesh Kumar, Tarsem Lal and Deepak Sharma were present on the occasion.
Harshit completed his schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Akhnoor. He pursued his graduation from Government Degree College Palwan, Akhnoor, followed by a Master's degree in History.
Belonging to a humble family, his father Raj Kumar Sharma is a Government teacher, while his mother Lalita Sharma is a homemaker. His sister Divyanshi Sharma is also pursuing her post-graduation.
Notably, Harshit had earlier qualified the UPSC examination in 2025 and was selected as Assistant Director in the Youth Services & Sports Department. However, he continued his preparation with greater determination and finally secured 3rd rank in JKAS.
Sharing his message, Harshit said, "If your goal is clear and your efforts are sincere, success is inevitable."
