Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 21: Samooh Theatre today staged adaptation of the renowned satirical story "Bholaram Ka Jeev" by eminent Hindi litterateur Harishankar Parsai, adapted into Dogri by Dr. Sudhir Mahajan. The play, titled "Bholaram da Jeev," was performed by senior and seasoned actor Rajinder Kumar Narang, who has had a long and distinguished association with theatre, portraying several challenging roles in the history of Jammu's theatrical landscape. The production brings to light the harsh realities of bureaucratic red-tapism, corruption, and the endless suffering of the common man in a system marked by insensitivity and delay. "Bholaram Ka Jeev" stands among Parsai's most powerful and thought-provoking works. Through sharp satire, irony, and humour, the story reveals how an ordinary poor man, even after his death, remains entangled in the web of official apathy and administrative negligence. The play poignantly reflects the pain, helplessness, and frustration of the common citizen, while also raising critical questions about the functioning of the system. This presentation aims not only to entertain but also to provoke serious reflection on the social and administrative structures that continue to burden the weaker sections of society. With its strong message, engaging dramatic situations, and timeless relevance, the play is expected to leave a lasting impact on audiences. Through this production, Samooh Theatre once again reaffirms its commitment to meaningful and socially relevant theatre. The group has consistently worked towards bringing significant literary and theatrical works to the stage, with the aim of sensitizing society and encouraging critical thinking through drama. |
