Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently completed 8,931 days in public life, first as the Gujarat chief minister and now as the PM. He surpassed the 8,930-day record of former Sikkim chief minister Pawan Kumar Chamling to become the longest-serving head of a government in India. In a message on X, Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote: “Modi Ji’s decades of Seva have shaped an era of his own. Whether it is giving the poor their rights, setting new landmarks in development or enhancing the nation’s pride on global platforms, the Modi era has transformed India unrecognisably.” “Fostering this new India required a lifetime’s effort, and Prime Minister Modi gave it,” he said. PM Modi has been serving the people without taking any break for more than 24 years. It’s the manifestation of his sheer commitment. During these years Modi served as Chief Minister of Gujarat fort three terms and at present he is serving his third term as the Prime Minister of India. PM Modi’s popularity has grown along with the passage of time and he continues to receive people’s trust, affection and support with every passing day. Longevity in public office is not merely a function of time; it is a reflection of sustained public trust and political resilience. In a democracy as vast and diverse as India, where political fortunes can shift rapidly, maintaining such continuity speaks volumes about a leader’s connect with the people. Over the years, Prime Minister Modi has cultivated an image of decisiveness, accessibility, and unwavering commitment to public service, which has resonated across sections of society. PM Modi’s era has been characterised by a focus on welfare delivery, infrastructure expansion, and efforts to position India more assertively on the global stage. From initiatives aimed at financial inclusion and rural development to large-scale infrastructure projects and digital transformation, the governance model has sought to blend welfare with growth. One of the defining features of this long tenure has been consistency in vision. Whether during his time in Gujarat or at the Centre, PM Modi’s approach has often revolved around strong administrative control, policy continuity, and an emphasis on implementation. This has enabled the government to pursue long-term goals, including economic reforms, ease of doing business, and the expansion of basic services to underserved populations. |
