| Bhagat Singh Committee holds annual langar, honours legacy of martyrs | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 23: On the occasion of the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar, a langar was organised at Gurudwara Rani Talab, Digiana, by the Bhagat Singh Committee, headed by Ghar Singh. The committee informed that this programme is organised every year to pay tribute to the great martyrs and to keep their legacy alive among the masses. A large number of locals, social activists, and community leaders gathered to pay homage to the legendary revolutionaries. The programme began with floral tributes and remembrance of the sacrifices made by the martyrs, whose courage and commitment continue to inspire generations. Speakers highlighted that the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev were not only for independence but also for justice, equality, and freedom of expression. They stressed that these values must be protected in present times as well. Prominent personalities present on the occasion included Dwarka Choudhary, Mandeep Choudhary-Youth President Jat Mahasabha, renowned singer Rahul Choudhary, farmer leader Harbans Choudhary, and several other respected members of the community. Renowned singer Rahul Choudhary presented patriotic songs, creating an emotional and inspiring atmosphere. The gathering joined in remembering the sacrifices of the martyrs. Speaking on the occasion, Senior Congress leader and former DDC Suchetgarh T S Tony said that the nation owes an unpayable debt to its martyrs. "Our freedom has come at the cost of countless sacrifices. It is our duty to safeguard it in every possible way," he said. He further warned against any attempts to suppress independent voices and weaken democratic values. "If independent voices are gagged, we will raise our voice and fight for our rights. Speakers also emphasized unity, social harmony, and awareness among the youth. They urged young people to follow the ideals of Bhagat Singh and contribute towards nation-building with honesty and dedication. |
