Kavinder Gupta pays tributes to Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru on Shaheedi Diwas
3/23/2026 10:32:43 PM
SHIMLA, Mar 23: Kavinder Gupta, Governor of Himachal Pradesh, today paid floral tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru on the occasion of Shaheed Diwas and bowed in reverence to their supreme sacrifice for the nation.
A tribute meeting was organised at Lok Bhawan on the occasion, in which officers and staff of Raj Bhavan also paid their heartfelt tributes to the immortal martyrs. A two-minute silence was observed in their memory, honouring their unparalleled courage, patriotism and dedication to the cause of the country's freedom.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that the life and sacrifice of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru continue to inspire generations of youth to serve the nation with courage, commitment and selflessness. He observed that the martyrs' ideals of patriotism, social justice and national unity remain deeply relevant today and urged everyone to imbibe these values in their daily lives.
The Governor said that these great revolutionaries laid down their lives for the country and became the foundation stones of India's freedom - a sacrifice that can never be forgotten.
Kavinder Gupta also shared his personal association with the legacy of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, having worked alongside his two nephews in the social sector. He recalled that his father had served in Ferozepur, owing to which he visited the Hussainiwala National Martyrs Memorial every year on March 23 during the annual fair held in memory of the martyrs.
The Governor emphasised that the dream of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 would be realised only when every citizen contributes wholeheartedly to nation-building, and that taking a collective pledge to strengthen the nation is the truest tribute to these great martyrs. He appealed to the youth to draw inspiration from the freedom fighters and dedicate themselves to the service of the nation with sincerity, discipline and a spirit of sacrifice.
Later, the Governor interacted with the staff of Lok Bhawan and directed all employees to work with utmost sincerity to uphold the dignity and traditions of the institution. He informed that he would hold regular interactions with the staff to personally understand their concerns and ensure their timely redressal.
Secretary to the Governor, C.P Verma, officers and staff of Raj Bhavan were also present on the occasion.
