Early Times Report SAMBA, Mar 24: Samba district marked World Tuberculosis Day with a district-level event organized at the Conference Hall of the District Administrative Complex Samba. The programme was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Samba Ayushi Sudan and hosted by Chief Medical Officer Samba Dr. Vidhi Bhatial. The CMO Samba formally welcomed the participants and provided an insightful overview of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) along with the way forward to ensure effective screening of vulnerable populations under TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan - Phase II. The event witnessed participation from district officers across multiple departments, including the Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, District Social Welfare Officer, District Panchayat Officer and District Programme Officer, ICDS. To spread awareness about tuberculosis and its prevention, a Nukkad Natak (street play) was performed by the Sargam Group, engaging the audience with a powerful message on TB prevention, stigma removal, treatment adherence and community health. Highlighting the commitment to TB elimination, CEO ELFA International Nawab Mehran Khan donated 50 Nikshay Poshan Kits, which were distributed to beneficiaries by the Deputy Commissioner. On the occasion, Ayushi Sudan also presented mementos to Panchayats declared TB-free, recognizing their contribution to public health. The DC congratulated the CMO and the Health Department for their dedicated efforts in combating tuberculosis, while emphasizing the need to further intensify efforts for sustained action towards achieving a TB-free Samba district. She also formally launched the second phase of the 100 Days TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, reaffirming the district's commitment to the national mission. The event was attended by the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Samba, District Health Officers (DHOs), Block Medical Officers (BMOs) of all three blocks, District Nodal Officers, Epidemiologist and staff from the Health Department. |
