3/25/2026 11:02:46 PM
Early Times Report
REASI, Mar 25: Police Reasi has registered FIR No. 84/2026 under Section 223 BNS at Police Station Katra against a pony handler identified as Arif Hossain S/O Mohd Alam R/O Dhanu, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu, for operating without a valid registration card.
During the ongoing Chaitra Navratra, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji Shrine witnesses a massive influx of pilgrims from across the country and abroad. To ensure the safety, security and smooth movement of devotees, strict enforcement measures are being implemented in and around Katra town.
The accused pony handler was found operating illegally in violation of the rules framed for pony, pithoo and palki operators. Such activities not only create inconvenience but also pose potential safety concerns for pilgrims.
The entire operation was carried out by IC PP Banganga and SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh-JKPS reiterates that no unregistered pony handler or service provider will be allowed to operate in the holy town. Strict action will be taken against violators to maintain order and ensure a safe pilgrimage environment.
Pilgrims are advised to avail services only from registered and verified operators and cooperate with police in maintaining discipline during the ongoing festivities.
