Early Times Report JEWAR/LUCKNOWJAMMU, Mar 27: One of India's largest infrastructure projects, Noida International Airport, is ready for the inauguration of its first phase. On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Phase-1 of the airport, open the cargo terminal and lay the foundation stone for the MRO facility. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present on the occasion. Under his leadership, the project has progressed rapidly and is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and economic development in North India. Noida International Airport received in-principle approval from Government of India in May 2018. The project is being developed in four phases with a total estimated cost of ?29,560 crore. Built with modern, digital and energy-efficient technologies, the airport will make Uttar Pradesh the first state in India to have five international airports once inaugurated. In Phase-1, Rs 6,876 crore is being invested by the concessionaire, while the Uttar Pradesh government has spent Rs 4,406 crore on land acquisition. Total cost of Phase-1 is estimated at around Rs 11,282 crore, with an initial annual capacity of 1.2 crore passengers. Airport will serve as a state-of-the-art multi-modal transport hub, integrating road, rail, metro and regional transit systems. This will significantly reduce travel time and logistics costs for both passengers and cargo. Cargo terminal inaugurated by PM will have an initial capacity of 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually, expandable up to 18 lakh metric tonnes. The 40-acre MRO facility will enable aircraft maintenance and repair within the country, promoting self-reliance in aviation sector. Developed in Yamuna Authority area, airport is expected to accelerate growth in nearby industrial sectors. It will generate employment, boost manufacturing and exports, simplify air travel and give a major push to tourism, ultimately strengthening UP's economy. On this occasion, Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with other ministers and public representatives, will also be present. |
