Early Times Report AKHNOOR, Mar 27: Minister for FCS&CA, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, IT, Science and Technology, Satish Sharma, today attended the annual mela/congregation at the revered Chib Dev Sthan at Nud, Akhnoor, where he joined thousands of devotees in celebrating the rich cultural and spiritual traditions of the region. The Minister was accorded a warm welcome by local residents, members of the mela organizing committee, religious heads, and prominent citizens. The annual congregation witnessed a large turnout of devotees from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting the deep-rooted faith and enduring legacy associated with the historic shrine. On the occasion, Satish Sharma paid obeisance at the sacred site and prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of the people. He also took part in the traditional rituals and interacted with the devotees, gaining firsthand insight into the customs and practices that have been preserved and passed down through generations. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister underscored the importance of safeguarding Jammu and Kashmir's rich cultural heritage, stating that such melas and congregations are living embodiments of the region's age-old traditions, beliefs and collective identity. He said that these events not only hold religious significance but also serve as vital platforms for preserving the indigenous customs, rituals and folklore that define the unique cultural fabric of the region. "Events like the Chib Dev Sthan Mela are a reflection of our deep cultural roots and shared heritage.
