IIM Jammu Guides Scientists of SKUASTJ on Agribusiness Creation under JKCIP

JAMMU, Mar 28: A One-Day Workshop-cum-Training Programme was conducted for the scientists and staff of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu under the Jammu & Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP). The programme aimed at enabling research-to-market transition and strengthening innovation-driven entrepreneurship within the agri-ecosystem.
The programme was organized by the Foundation for Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Skill Development at Indian Institute of Management Jammu. It brought together scientists, researchers, and institutional stakeholders to deliberate on structured pathways for transforming research outputs into scalable and market-ready ventures.
The training programme featured expert-led sessions by domain leaders and practitioners, offering practical insights into innovation, commercialization, and startup development.
Dr. Muqbil Burhan, Chairperson - Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Skill Development, IIM Jammu, delivered a session on From Lab to Market: Commercialisation Pathways, highlighting structured mechanisms for translating scientific research into viable business opportunities.
Dr. Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer, IIM Jammu, conducted a session on Ideation Basics for Market-Ready Research, focusing on aligning research ideas with market needs and enhancing their commercial viability.
CA Shri Raghav Gupta, Executive Director - BNI Jammu & Kashmir, shared insights on Startup Financing and Funding Readiness, covering funding avenues, investor expectations, and financial preparedness for early-stage startups.
Shri Gagan Jain, Director, VKC Nuts Private Limited, led a session on Structured Mentorship for Early-Stage Startups, offering industry perspectives on mentorship, scaling strategies, and building sustainable enterprises.
The sessions enabled participants to engage directly with experts and gain practical exposure to commercialization pathways, thereby bridging the gap between academic research and entrepreneurial application.
The workshop concluded with a commitment to strengthen collaboration between Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu and Indian Institute of Management Jammu, focusing on leveraging institutional strengths and enhancing mutual capacities to promote agri-based startups in Jammu & Kashmir.
This initiative marks a significant step towards building a robust innovation ecosystem, empowering the scientific community to translate research into impactful, market-driven solutions for sustainable agricultural development and economic growth in the region.
