Early Times Report THANNAMANDI, Mar 30: The week-long series of events organized to commemorate 150 years of the National Song "Vande Mataram" concluded today at Government Degree College (GDC) Thannamandi with the creation of a vibrant and meaningful "Tribute Wall" on the college campus. The celebrations were conducted under the able guidance of the Principal, Dr. Shamim Ahmed Azad, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty throughout the week. A variety of activities including poster making, cultural programmes, patriotic poetry recitation, and mass singing of "Vande Mataram" were organized to highlight the historical and cultural significance of the national song. The concluding event was marked by the creation and display of the Tribute Wall, which featured artistic posters, portraits, and insightful write-ups prepared by students. The wall reflected the spirit of patriotism and paid homage to the ideals embodied in "Vande Mataram," serving as a powerful visual reminder of the nation's rich heritage and freedom struggle. The programme was organized by the committee constituted for the celebration, constituted to commemorate 150 years of the national song, with Dr. Nazar-ul-Islam as Convener, Prof. Supriya Gupta, Dr.Gulshan Rashid, Prof Fatima Parveen, Dr. Ather Aziz Raina, Dr Meenakshi Sharma, Prof Rizwana Kouser and Attiq ul Rehman as members. A large number of students and staff were present on the occasion, making the culmination ceremony a grand success. Speaking on the occasion, the Principal appreciated the creativity and active involvement of the students and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering patriotism and national consciousness among the youth.
