RAMBAN, Apr 1: In a significant development under the ongoing drive against absconders, District Police Ramban successfully apprehended an absconder who had been evading arrest since 2018.
Today, an absconder namely Farooq Ahmed S/o Abdul Aziz was arrested from Gujjar Basti, Talab Tillo, Jammu by a Ramban Police team headed by ASI Ravinder Kumar Sharma on 30th March 2026. The accused was wanted in case FIR No. 112/2018 under sections 188 RPC and 3 PC Act registered at Police Station Ramban. A warrant under section 335 BNSS (512 CrPC) had been issued against him by the Hon'ble Addl. Sessions Court Ramban. The accused had been evading arrest for nearly eight years.
Further, in a related development, another absconder namely Shabir Ahmed S/o Bagh Hussain R/o Chamalvas, Tehsil Banihal, A/P Malani, Rajpura Samba, involved in case FIR No. 351/2023 under sections 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act of Police Station Ramban, who is presently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu under PSA, was also produced before the Hon'ble JMIC through virtual mode. The production was carried out after obtaining his lodgement certificate from the Superintendent Jail and was conducted as per due procedure from Central Jail Kot Bhalwal to the Hon'ble Court.
